My experience with this product has been great. It has made steaming vegetables a breeze, and now I eat them way more often.I was looking over some reviews because I was planning to buy a second one to give to a family member, and noticed two main complaints are: it breaks too easily and it rusts.Concerning the steamer breaking, I hand wash all my dishes, and have hand washed this thing with a sponge countless times now. If you are mindful that the metal flaps are NOT indestructible and are careful not to apply too much pressure when washing, I believe this steam basket will last you a long time. No part has broken on mine thus far.As far as rust, mine has none. It DOES however have a decent amount of brown stains near the harder to reach spaces. If I run a fingernail over them, they come right off, but I am really not too bothered by them. If I were, I could take a brush to it and get rid of them with a little focused scrubbing; or perhaps if I were regularly using a dishwasher, that would get rid of the staining. While I am not saying the people complaining of rust are incorrect, these stains do look a bit like rust, so I can see how the mistake could be made. All I know is after 2.5 years of steady use, I detect no rust on mine.Anyway, my two cents is this is a great little product, certainly worth the money if you are wanting to steam some vegetables.

I purchased the stainless steel steamer basket in January 2018 and by March 2018 after being used a few times, it was already showing heavy amounts of rust. At first, I accepted it as a waste of money and a lesson learned but after thinking about it for a week, I decided to contact Sunsella explaining the issue.Damien at Sunsella was very quick to respond to my inquiry, asked for more details and photos of the steamer basket so he could share them with the quality control team. In addition, he offered to send a replacement at no extra charge and was even willing to substitute the green silicone basket in its place. After sending the photos, Damien explained that the basket I had was not a Sunsella product because it did not have the company logo stamped into it. There was an obvious mixup somewhere but true to his word, Damien was still willing to replace it and a few days later, the silicone basket arrived. The green silicone basket I received is of high quality and design having deeper walls than the stainless steel basket. It is definitely superior to the stainless steel basket I had received and I believe it to be a better choice overall. If I could go back in time, I would have ordered the silicone basket to begin with but I am glad that Damien and Sunsella are willing to stand behind their products and do everything in their power to offer a proper resolution.

I had some doubts about purchasing the steamer since I have had some other “stainless steel” products that rusted after a few uses. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this steamer! The stainless steel is of good quality and I have had no problems with rust. I especially like its ability to fold to different widths to conform to the various size pots that I use. Also, the bottom tabs keep it just above the water line with enough water in the pot to properly steam vegetables(just be sure that you don’t put dense vegetables in the steamer along with leafy ones, as the dense ones will be hard while the leafy ones will be overcooked). A good example of this is broccoli and cabbage leafs. Also, if you use some spices and even beef broth as the liquid, your steamed vegetables will have an even better taste! It’s an inexpensive product that performs well!

I have had this type of steamer for decades, and have had the Sunsella steamer for a few weeks. After reading some reviews of other brands, I had concerns that the legs of the steamer might be too short to steam foods for more than a few minutes. The legs on this steamer are tall enough to steam foods with the boiler covered for at least 15 minutes, with no need to add water, and without the water boiling up onto the food. Even if water did need to be added, it should be no big deal. It seems that any vegetable would be mush if steamed more than 15-20 minutes. The steamer seems to be constructed of a good quality stainless steel, is compact and fits into most boilers, and perfect for cooking for a single person or a couple on a daily basis. The ease of use has meant I actually steam and eat more vegetables. I also have a much larger one for cooking large amounts of veggies or seafood. It works well so far, and I assume it will continue to do so for years. I like this steamer, and can find no flaw in it.

Used for steaming vegetables. I like its size, easy to handle. It collapses easily for storage and adjusts easily to various sized pots. It feels sturdy and well-constructed. It remains shiny and new-looking requiring brief soapy water rinse. So far is superior to other steamer inserts I’ve used which didn’t feel as firmly put together and sometimes jammed when collapsing them. It has straight legs, a plus. Those inserts having curvy legs got caught in the dish drainer, an annoyance; Am very pleased.
