Its really good if you know how to use it
A big part of this device is the app itself. Now I won’t say that the app looks great but functionally it is amazing and with how well it pairs with Alexa it really is something. I have an Atomberg BLDC fan which doesn’t have a regulator and the only way to control it through the remote. Now the remote is so small that it’s really frustrating to find it sometimes due to all the clutter I have on my desk. And mind you this is not the expensive fan which comes with IOT in-built on it. So this Smart IR remote does the job of turning the fan on and off. The real challenge was to increase or decrease the speed of the fan itself which was possible using the tap to run feature on the app. This feature is so great that as soon as you set it up, Alexa just tells you how to activate it with the voice command. I haven’t had any connectivity issues yet but I believe one of the reasons people may have connectivity issues is due to the remote not being positioned properly with respect to the devices you control. The price is on the expensive side but the fact that spending â¹999 on such a device which makes normal old devices smart without spending upwards of five figures is definitely something to appreciate. The only drawback here is that it doesn’t work that great with Google. You can only turn devices on or off through Google. You can’t increase/decrease volume or speed of the devices connected through Google Home. Or maybe I haven’t really figured that out yet but nonetheless I think that could be a Google issue rather than a HomeMate issue. The IR remote is not a necessity but a convenience. Just go for it, if you think this suits your house

Works as expected, value for money
The device is pretty small and the led light on the front is just the right size. Its bright enough to know when its on, while not being over bright(like some adapters) which can be a nuisance. Pairing was quick and it was able to pair easily with my AC and TV. Not that useful for TV, as it only works to switch on/off, turn volume up/down, left-right-up-down etc. You can’t do functions like open Netflix (which has a dedicated button on my TV), that would have been ideal. But you can set the device to do periodic tasks.I have started using this mainly for my AC to control the temp and power throughout the night. I am running a experiment to reduce my AC bill, by setting a scheduled to limit the AC on time and cycling through different temp, which it has done amazingly well. Currently I have set it to turn on AC at 9pm and turn it off at midnight(when I am asleep). Then turn it back on at like 3am for an hour. Thus keeping the AC on for 1 hour and off for next 2 hours until 8 in the morning when it can be turned off.I will update how much my AC bill reduces after this experiment. One thing which it does better than smart switch for the same job is, I can set the temp as well in this like turn on AC at 18 celsius at 9pm, then increase it after i am asleep like set to 20 at 3am and then again 22 at 6am etc.

Absolutely terrible for my Air Conditioners
I mainly wanted to use an IR remote to control my ACs because my original remote stopped working and I was looking for a handsfree way to control my ACs. I previously tried the Zebronics IR Remote which worked fine with the SmartLife app as well as the ZebHome app but I just couldn’t get the Alexa to work with it so I returned it and got the HomeMate IR remote owing to its generally good reviews. But unfortunately this remote is a worse version of the Zebronics one. It not only did not work with Alexa but even the software inbuilt the IR is broken. When I added my AC remote to the homemate app the on/off button only turned the ac on and pressing the same button would not turn it off unless I exited the app and reopened it. Several times the software just does not respond. I don’t know how it works with other devices like TV and stuff but god it seriously is in need of a good firmware update by the company if they care. I even ordered a replacement but the second one also had the same problems.Eventually I parted ways and got a refund for it. I finally decided to try the Broadlink IR Remote and my god it is so much better than the others. It has a clean app, its software is stable, it even works great with Alexa. The only shortcoming that I should warn people is that it does not have a learning feature to add custom buttons to your remotes.

Exceptional Smart IR Control Hub, with Minor Connectivity Glitches
The HomeMate Wi-Fi Smart IR Control Hub is an absolute game-changer for home automation! Its compatibility with Alexa, Google Home, and its ability to serve as an all-in-one infrared remote make it an indispensable addition to any smart home setup. Most of the time, it operates flawlessly, allowing me to effortlessly control my air conditioner and other infrared devices. However, I have noticed occasional connectivity glitches where it loses connection temporarily. Despite this minor inconvenience, the convenience and functionality it offers far outweigh this issue. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their home automation system!

Works well, recommend..
Product is nice, works well. Using it to control my non-smart AC via Alexa. Would have liked more mounting options, but then, that’s not a showstopper.
